Well ive cut back on my pumping and ill be honest im not ok with it. i pump every 6 hours and im averaging about 16 oz a day. zoey takes about 30 oz. So im doing slightly more then half her intake, which is pretty much what i was getting pumping every 4 hours. and ill be honest sleeping for 6 straight hours has been really nice. But Im feeling horribly guilty. And im angry jim wants me to hang up my horns. Why doesnt he see that this is so important to me? I have had some support on ivillage, heres my post you can check out. while im still on the fence, these girls are keeping me from hanging myself off of it...
Im so angry at the whole breastfeeding situation, Im mad i cant just whip out my boob and feed my baby. why do i have to take all these extra steps and hassle. why cant i have a husband who totally supports me in this weird world im in. i feel so alone in my choice to be an exclusive pumper. I feel like a total failure. I just wish he saw me as the woman who will take any measure to insure his daughter will have the very best i can give her. i know that i ignore him and i know that i have a better relationship with my pump then i have with him. why am i so obsessive with this. i just wish i wasnt stuck in the middle. i wish i had a nursing baby, or at least a full milk supply. i hate being alone out here...

Every breastfeed makes a difference
Well today Zoey is 5 months old! woo hoo! But also marks the 10 lb mark that ive gained since i lost all my pregnancy weight. My motilum prescription makes me gain weight. And Im just really really getting discouraged. Ever since my period started my milk supply seems to have dipped, and has dried up a little with being so sick with zoey the past 2 weeks. I really think im hitting the wall soon. Im getting tired of being hooked to my pump and gaining the weight. My skin isnt the same either. i hate all these break outs. the pumping during my period and ovulation is painful and i cry through it. im tired of the 16 pills a day with the headaches. im exhausted with pumping every 4 hours with no sleep while my daughter has been sleeping through the night for 3 months now. Im stuck on the edge of being a martyr and a sane woman. Im not sure I will be able to make it to the full year i swore up and down i would do.
I feel like such a failure. but really anyone who has been in my shoes has long quit by now. I do believe that breast is best, but feel maybe the motto should really be every breastfeed makes and made a difference. really every drop she has had has been an incredible journey. I need more freedom, i need my husband and marriage back, and selfishly maybe i need myself back. I feel bitter my breastfeeding never went as planned.i really plan now on setting my final goal till 6 months. I have accomplished so much more then i ever thought, and weve made it through so much. while i dont want to give it up my daughter deserves a sane mom and my poor husband deserves a wife back.
Jim and I are beginning to plan the next addition to our growing family. We plan on getting pregnant at the end of this year and delivering around when zoey is around 2 years old. But it is very very important to me that i lose as much of my weight as possible. While its been a looong time since ive been a size 2 Id at least like to get a comfortable weight. Which is weighing on my mind. I want to have the healthiest for future babies, am I cutting zoey short? while i do think breast milk is best, it isnt a cure all. I feel like parents are crazy for breastfeeding but then will feed them mcdonalds, defeating the whole idea.
This is a great article i found on the beast feeding debate, made me feel a little less guilty :)
Im a strong woman and a great mom, and made the best of a horrible situation. Ive given my daughter the very best I could give. and While it was difficult I gave it every ounce of my strength. I wish things it could have gone different. but there is always a next time. But i am so thankful for making it this far!

Bronchiolitis is swelling and mucus buildup in the smallest air passages in the lungs (bronchioles), usually due to a viral infection
Well we called and went to the drs and little miss is a sick little princess. She has Bronchiolitis/rsv. The dr has her on a nebulizer every 4 hours which seems to be helping. my girl sits like a champ for 15 mins and just sits there. i usually do it when im pumping which is on the same 4 hours schedule so we are a site to be seen! tubes and pumps running every which way...lol . shes been breathing really poorly and just really struggling to get air in and out check out her poor little tummy trying to get some air in :(
she also has a ear infection in her left ear. and a very sore throat, all along with her initial runny nose and coughing. luckily i was able to get the week off at work so ive been able to take good care of her. Its just a shame cause her amoxicillin is giving her bad diarrhea and shes barely getting 8 oz a day in her...thats how i know its bad...she loves milk like a fat kid loves cake...lol...hope my princess starts feeling better soon!

I am surprised to hear you think I am coughing very badly, Ive been practicing all night
Well its little Zoeys first cold. :( Poor baby. We went to the drs on the 17th, which Ill go over in a minute. But there was a sick little girl there, mind you Ive never once seen a patient in our drs office. Its a solo practice and she sticks to her schedule perfectly. We never wait more then like 5 mins. (Not like my obgyn where If i wait 45 mins its a good day. We use to have to take the 9am app just to get out in time. try getting up and out of the house by 815 while having morning sickness...ick) but this time there was a sick kid there. we had arrived a little early and she had some one before us to go. She only waited a few minutes before she went back but the mother was saying the whole family is sick blah blah blah. then wanted to see the baby. yea right lady. anyway we go in and zoey did fabulous. She is 14 lbs and 24.5 inches! Anyway the next day i start not feeling so hot and the next day is full blown. I had 2 earaches, a runny nose and congestion. ick. I hate congestion. Plus TMI ALERT im ovulating so my nipples hurt, and pumping is less then fun. Anyway come saturday, it snowed and i have no idea why i went to work. I made like $4 and had to get up early and sick to clean the car etc. ick! So I do decide to leave an hour early. Come home and Jim has his best friend and his son over. The kid is 2 and has a runny nose. great. So I take Zoey into bed and nap. The next day I feel super terrible and ask Jim to watch her most of the day, which only partially succeeded. sighs. So Monday comes and Zoey is having trouble breathing and has a runny nose. I feel bad and try to find her some medicine. here they dont have cold medicine for babies. they did away with it in 2007. I guess kids were dying or something from overdoses. so i get her saline nose drops and baby vapor rub and run the humidifier. then it hit. she didnt sleep for 2 nights and just screamed. She had a low fever and this runny nose and not eatting, now last night started the coughing so hard she throws up. Jim was holding her and she just puked everywhere, all over him. the look on his face was priceless. getting cleaned up he said well youve been up for 48 hours taking care of her and ive been puked all over, i guess we're real parents now. :) She did sleep through the night pretty well last night. I barely slept. every time she coughed it made me nervous she would puke and drown. She slept around 10 hours and then ate some formula, (i know im a bad mom, but it takes me 4-6 hours to make one breast milk bottle i dont want her throwing it all up) I called out of work to take care of her today. Shes sleeping right now, right next to me and every time she coughs i have to wipe up her throw up. :( im having my mom come over in a bit to check her out, shes a nurse and has had 5 kids, so i trust her in letting me know if its first cold first time mom nervousness or to call the dr.
I did go to this really super cool store after the drs office, its in marlton and its called dragonflies and lady bugs. Its a really nice upscale consignment shop for childrens clothes, toys and strollers etc. I cant wait to shop there again. I have a love affair with carters clothes, and they are so expensive. I do get them on sale and with coupons but since she outgrows them in 3 months, it gets pricey. But i got a couple brand new with tags carters outfits for like $3. Their clothes are so gently used you have no idea a kid wore them, and most still have the tags on them. Its really great for grandparents houses for gently used toys and play pens etc. I cant wait to go shopping there again!!! Maybe even consign some of her clothes there. It can be our go to the drs office and get a new outfit treat. check out my latest score! This child is not hurting for clothes...now just to pick her easter outfit....considering MIL bought her 3 already...lol...

Childbirth provided the drama I craved, the thrill of peeking over the primal edge of creation, the rush of the unexpected
I've decided i need to do a blog on my pregnancy and child birth experience so that i dont forget and have another baby....haha! yea right. as much as a pain it was, id do it again in a heart beat. though when i was 9 months gigantic (or right after pushing out a watermelon) people would tell me id forget about it all and want to do it again. You know they are right.. Im ready for my son now, but he will have to wait :) but while it is still kinda fresh in my mind i would love to write it all out.
Jim and I had just got married and we were waiting to make sure the insurance went all through before we started trying. We got everything squared away and started baby dancing in December 2010. Id been tracking my periods and ovulation for over a year while we were planning our wedding. Im not one for surprises. We had a window of opportunity of 3 days and while its not romantic I calculated out our best time for having a girl, and we took our chances with one time, the exact time. (In theory the boy sperm are sprinters not long distance runners like girl sperm) then i waited the longest 2 weeks of my life! After a nerve wracking christmas I missed my period and took a test on december 30th. and i got all set and ready for my +... 3 minutes later... - ! what?! how could this happen...my calculations were not wrong! I was devastated to say the least!
Feeling disappointed and just exhausted from the holidays I set up shop in bed on new years eve moping and just slept. Jim was mad i was ruining his new years eve and begged me to drink with him. i felt too tired and nauseous to even consider it! I figured the nausea was just me making myself sick from worrying and hating the world. How could people get pregnant without trying and i had calculated for a year the very best day and time to have a baby girl. ugh!
On January 1st I still hadnt got my period, now a week late, so at 11:30pm, i made jim drive to walmart to get me a pregnancy test. low and behold my positive in seconds. i about died. i danced around the house as jim thought i went crazy. we announced to our families and then to the world january 11th with a little video :)
We decided to keep the baby's sex a total surprise which is totally not like me! nobody thought we could do it but we did. I can honestly say it was the most incredibly hard thing to do but every day it got easier. We got to dream of princesses with ponies and tea parties and picking out prom gowns, but not going to lie, we had visions of mack trucks frogs and bad teenage mustaches toward the end :) we chose the names for both pretty early and without much trouble. Zoey Jane by staind is my favorite song in the entire world! I love it! Its so pretty. and i hope zoey will like it too, though having it played to her all the time i hope it doesnt lose its meaning. Its about the love a father has for his daughter. i hope she will dance to it with her daddy on her wedding day! but lets not get tooo ahead of ourselves...haha!
we chose the name Micah James for our boy name. I think we will recycle it for a future boy :) Jim really wanted the name to be James like him but there are already 3 James in his family so i couldnt give my kid an identity crisis the day he was born! haha! and I just loved Micah. Its not heard very often and thats what I was really going for.
and if you must know...cause im dying to say...haha...our next girl name will be Petra Mae. Oohhh it gives me chills. I heard the name Petra after my aunt had my cousin a month early and hadnt picked a name so we were looking for one. Zoey hadnt been born yet but I spent a lot of time singing Zoey Jane to her, so i couldnt give HER and identity crisis before she was born...lol.I have never heard or met any one named Petra and its so strong. I am in love with it. The name Mae is pretty old, and is my grandmothers middle name. But they fit so beautifully! I cant wait to use these names! and if we dont have more kids, well then im getting more pets haha!
While my pregnancy was less then fun, it wasnt horrible looking back on it without my hormones raging. haha! Id say the worst was the puking for 7 months, my sciatic nerve pain, the heartburn and the stuffy nose. Then in close 2nd is the not being able to be awake the first trimester and then not being able to sleep the 3rd haha!
I'll skip the rest of the pregnancy part for maybe another post.
I finished working on August 19th, a week and a half before i had zoey. While I was working only 3 days a week at the end, doing pedicures 38 weeks pregnant is amazing i was pretty huge :)
That weekend was a hurricane and I waddled off to walmart to get some food and would walk up an aisle and have to stop. I got finished and then just sat in my truck and cried for awhile and drove home and cried some more. then fell asleep! The hurricane was no big deal, but i was glad i didnt go into labor.
At my last obgyn appointment on August 26th they said i was only 1 cm still and wouldnt be going for awhile, and they were still sticking to my later due date, the 17th. I thought yea right this baby is coming very soon. we went to wawa and i waddled in and two women stopped me and said you know what youre not going to make it till the end of the week. I smiled and thought i just met you and you know better then my drs. that night my bloody show happened in the middle of the night potty run...ick...gross btw. after that my contractions started to get more intense. They had me come in for another ultrasound because there were some concerns that the baby wouldnt be able to fit through the canal and be very big. they measured her at over 8lbs and growing, thinking we had another 3 weeks to go, they suggested i consider having a csection, which was not in the plans. While we were on the low end of the scale there was a possibility. I think it was due to my weight. though i had only gained 18 lbs total, due to my puking for 7 months and only being able to drink nutritional shakes. i think i did pretty good if i do say so myself :)
On September 1st I was a miserable mess. I was just ready to be done! I just sat in the bath tub sobbing for maybe 45 mins. and spent the rest of the day in bed or peeing. That night i just stood on the floor with my head on the bed swaying my giant belly crying for relief from contractions. we started timing and they werent constant yet. i spent the night screaming at jim for who the heck knows what. the poor guy should have divorced me then. he had to have said this is just your hormones you are going to be ok to me at least a hundred times! i finally tired myself out and went into dream land, well as deep as you can go for your insides trying to gain some independence and become your outsides...haha.
That next morning, friday september 2nd Jim got up and got ready for work, he kissed me goodbye and out the door at 8am he went to work. At 9am, i felt like i got the worse stomach cramp ever, and thinking i hadnt peed in 3 hours it was time. I stood up and soaked the floor. (and i didnt clean it up so it soaked into the floor boards and they are raised and squeak a little till this day)I panicked and called jim asking him to come home. He said he just got into work and would turn around. I called my mom between contractions and had her get ready and tell Rachel, my sister in law. and facebook my brother
I get a shower real quick and jim comes running in. here he took a taxi home <3 Jim called the drs office and told them we think my water broke and im in labor. he hands the phone to me and i explain what happened..well between that and screaming i think i got my point across. and we didnt even have to go to the drs to get checked out and we grab the bags and head off to the hospital. We walk in and i sit down and of course leak all over the chair as shes asking me all sorts of insurance questions. cant she see im in labor and not wanting to answer questions...lol..so we head back and get checked out. and yup my water did break and I was 4 cm. the week prior they had me do another ultrasound because they thought the baby would be way to big and get stuck, shoulder dystocia. they asked me to consider a c-section, and after debating back and forth it was time to choose. so we choose to go vaginal and pray for the best scenario.
By now my parents have arrived and were waiting for my brother jordan and rachel to arrive. so i get wheeled up into labor and delivery. They got me all set up in one of the beautiful rooms and i got my epidural!and funny i wasnt afraid at all about it. i was more afraid of contractions haha! the room had a computer on the tv so i sat on facebook and updated the whole night. it was fun and was nice having everyone cheer you on when your no exactly feeling fabulous :) I was racing the girl next to me but she had her baby hours and hours before me :( nothing like a 19 hour labor!
Labor wasnt horrible, just long and i had a lot of heartburn and sciatic nerve pains. My brother and dad waited in the waiting room all day and night long the poor guys. when I was about 9 cms the drs turned off the lights and had me go to sleep to rest for the finale. It was around 1am and my brother and dad fell asleep. They woke me up around 230 and it was time to get the show on the road. My brother texted them what was happening, and since they were busy cause i was in labor he left...right before i had her! lol! so after pushing for only 45 mins our little one was born. Pushing wasnt terrible but wasnt easy either. Jim almost passed out but he sat down and got through it. he said i smelled weird. thanks jim. After the nurse announced jim was right, we looked and saw jim was wrong and we had ourselves a tiny little girl. Jim cut the cord. and after getting all cleaned up, he gave zoey her first kiss <3 what a sweet daddy <3

I wont eat any cereal that doesnt turn the milk purple
************
Ok so i decided that i really should get off the computer and try to sew my curtains. needless to say i bought fitted sheets not flat sheets....ughhh....oh well back to walmart i go to switch them out. But i did decide that i need to put a skirt around our dump sink. its maybe 20-30 years old then i am and it looks like its seen better days. jim said i could get a new one, but looking at the plumbing fiasco in the basement we decided against it. We have a septic tank for our house (yea no one would know we live in a very populated area but no one on my block has sewer, but thats ok with me cause no one but out block can boast the 1+ acre yards we have ) so we have our washer dump into the dump sink which runs it to this pit that has a sump pump and that pumps it outside to a grey water pit. But there is a tangle of pipes and waterlines that probably should not be messed with...lol! so i rummaged through our linen closet and found an old hot pink twin sheet. We dont own a twin sized bed anymore...well ok we do my great dane sleeps on it...but we dont need the sheet. so after some fiddling around i make a cute little skirt to cover its old ickyness and the pipe that dumps it all into this bottomless pit. im going to have jim build me a faux table top to put on top of it with a tiny cut out for the washer drain. so it can be covered and look new and cute and be a functioning folding table. awwww! he really has amazed me with all the work he has done in the basement. not that my husband isnt handy, he is. but he never has tackled anything on this scale. Hes such a great husband and a saint for dealing with my rough pregnancy and letting me spend a fortune trying to give zoey breast milk with all my pills and pumps (and hours and hours he has to watch her so i can pump...) he will never know how thankful i really am for him <3

Mother knows breast
Well, I got my new pump on yesterday. and im very very pleased with it! Im currently pumping right now with the help of my hands free bra, and im happy to say im up to maybe 2 oz more then i was pumping. So im very very excited! Its also so much quicker, so my night pumpings are much easier and i get to go back to bed much quicker which is allllways a plus! Im just happy that production is up! woo hoooooo! Im also coming more at ease that this decision is what is best for our family. yes it is a pain in the neck but i just really want her to have as much breast milk as i possibly can give to her and am willing to continue exclusive pumping until at least a year maybe even more <3
I also pierced her little ears on thursday, she looks adorable! I did it at work and jim held her while i pierced.
Cant wait for christmas eve coming up on saturday!

Breast milk is better than any udder milk!
our little zoey is 14 weeks old :) and shes sitting right next to me cracking her little self up :) I love her <3
well, ive given up! Im now joining the ranks of crazy moms who exclusively pump. I will still try to latch her any time she is calm and is willing to work with me, but wont be crying every time she "refuses her mommy" While this isnt the way i really wanted to go, its the path i have to to keep her on breast milk. I have ordered a new breast pump also, the Pump in Style Advanced, the metro bag
Its a better pump then what i have, which is the swing. and hopefully having the double pump will help with the supply some more. When it arrives im planning on taking a power pumping vacation. just sit in bed for days pumping every 2 hours and see where that gets us. Im running out of formula, and yes my container lasted us 2 months, but i swore up and down it would be our last :(
I do though feel incredibly fortunate to have a child who does sleep so very well. She gets swaddled and put to bed awake but sleepy at 11pm, she just goes to sleep rarely fussing and then sleeps all the way till 1030am the next morning. She just cat naps for an hour, 2 or 3 times during the afternoon but its ok with me to have that long span i can get things done in. I do wake up without her several times a night to pump so we do have some for during the day time, and since its only a single it take forever, so im so excited on hopefully making this pumping situation work better for us :) Ive met a lot of moms who dont have the bed time situation as good as we do so it does make me feel better. While breast feeding wasnt fully in the cards for us, at least we can pump and have no bed time struggles.
Heres an article I found on Exclusively Pumping enjoy!
Since few people have experience with exclusively pumping breast milk, it is often difficult for a woman who is exclusively pumping to find understanding and sometimes even acceptance. Women who breastfed without difficulty often do not understand how difficult and emotionally trying it can be when breastfeeding problems are encountered and some may believe a woman who is exclusively pumping did not try hard enough or gave up too early. Women who chose to formula feed often do not understand why a woman who exclusively pumps would not choose to feed formula if breastfeeding is difficult or not possible.
The reality for most women who end up exclusively pumping in order to provide their babies with breast milk is that they experienced difficulty attempting to breastfeed and reached a point where they needed to make a change in the way they fed their babies. Yet, given their strong belief that breast milk is the best food for infants, they dedicated themselves to providing expressed breast milk. Sometimes, there has been a lack of support or access to qualified lactation consultants and this has made a difficult situation even more challenging. But often, women who end up exclusively pumping have consulted and worked with lactation consultants. However, the stress and challenge of a situation often compounds until a change must be made in order to remove the pressure from an increasingly stressful experience. The breaking point for every woman is different, and the challenges are different for every woman.
The option of exclusively pumping as an alternative to formula feeding is one that is usually not discussed in prenatal classes or pregnancy magazines; indeed it is an option that is largely unknown and greatly misunderstood. Yet even though many women make the choice to exclusively pump when breastfeeding has not worked out, women who are exclusively pumping often feel alone and isolated. Feeding expressed breast milk by bottle falls between the two most commonly known methods of feeding an infant -breastfeeding and bottle feeding formula- and therefore leaves mothers who are exclusively pumping between the two groups without a clear source of support or information.
Ways to Support Exclusively Pumping Mothers
· Educate, educate, educate! Women need to be educated about breastfeeding. Breastfeeding needs to become common place, expected, and supported. New mothers need to know others who are breastfeeding or who have breastfed and have the opportunity to watch babies breastfeeding. The best support is to provide the assistance and education necessary to remove the need to exclusively pump for as many women as possible. The vast majority of women who exclusively pump would breastfeed in a heartbeat if it were possible for them.
It is important to let women know that breastfeeding can require work and dedication. While it is normal and natural, it is a learned skill for both mother and baby. All too often, breastfeeding is given cursory attention or the difficulties that can occur are never mentioned to new or expectant mothers. As a result, if a new mother, already tired and likely overwhelmed from having a newborn to care for, faces difficulties trying to establish breastfeeding, she may simply give up under the mistaken belief that breastfeeding is normal and natural and should therefore also be easy, and that somehow, she has failed or isn’t capable of breastfeeding. This education and support needs to be given in both the prenatal and postpartum periods.
Of course there are situations where breastfeeding is just not possible or complications arise which make breastfeeding difficult. In these situations, it is vital that women who must exclusively pump be given accurate information and unwavering support.
· Give credibility to exclusively pumping as an alternative to formula. Share the option of exclusively pumping breast milk with women as an alternative to formula prior to the birth of their baby. Some may be concerned that talking about exclusively pumping as an alternative method to provide breast milk may cause some women to choose it as an alternative to breastfeeding or quickly give up trying to establish breastfeeding if they are having difficulties. This concern is understandable, but with proper education and an honest discussion of the requirements to initiate and maintain lactation with a breast pump very few women will choose to express breast milk instead of breastfeed when breastfeeding is possible. And indeed, without the option presented to women before they experience difficulties, there is the very real risk that new mothers will turn to formula when they experience troubles, diminishing their milk supply, and making it all that more difficult to breastfeed. When presenting the idea of exclusively pumping, it is important that it be discussed as an alternative to formula feeding and not an alternative to breastfeeding. There is absolutely no equal to breastfeeding, but there are far better alternatives to feeding formula.
· Acknowledge the tremendous emotional impact breastfeeding can have on a woman, and even more so, the emotional impact of not breastfeeding. It is often difficult to come to terms with the reality of your experience compared to the expectations you had for it. Many new mothers expect to breastfeed, yet we know that breastfeeding is not always easy and does not always work out as planned. It is important to recognize the emotional toll this lost expectation can have. Comments such as “You just need to keep trying a little longer”, while sometimes true, do not take into account the tremendous emotional load a new mother may be straining under. Simply acknowledging the loss, grief, and disappointment a woman feels can be important. A simple question such as, “How can I help you?” can mean a lot. Validating her feelings and encouraging her abilities are also extremely important. Comments such as “I understand why this is so upsetting for you” and “You are a good mother” can provide the boost that is needed to continue persevering.
Often prior to making the decision to exclusively pump, women are in an unending cycle of breastfeeding, bottle feeding to supplement their baby’s needs, and then expressing their milk with a breast pump. This cycle is exhausting and almost impossible to continue for an indefinite period of time- especially without support. Add onto this cycle the stress of having a premature baby or ill infant, or other complicating factors, and a new mother can easily and quickly become overwhelmed. Be prepared to offer not only a listening ear but to also offer concrete support to assist in all other aspects of her life. Many women who end up exclusively pumping turn to it as a means of self-preservation after becoming overwhelmed with the cycle of breastfeeding, bottle feeding, and pumping. Sometimes the emotional price of continually trying to breastfeed and not having the situation improve is enormous and overwhelming; sometimes a woman needs to move on. Support her decision. Recognize it as her decision. Acknowledge the fact that her baby is still receiving breast milk. Provide information and support if breastfeeding is still desired. Again, acknowledgement and support can go a long way.
· Help exclusively pumping women connect with others for support and information. There are numerous internet discussion boards and mailing lists dedicated to exclusively pumping moms and many others available for women who are generally expressing breast milk whether it be exclusively or while they are at work. The benefits of sharing with others who are going through the same experience as you, and feeling the same emotions as you, are enormous. Women who are exclusively pumping often think that they have invented the idea and feel as though they are the only woman in the world doing it, but this is far from the truth.
· Family and friends must provide support and encouragement. The importance of breastfeeding and breast milk must be understood by everyone supporting a new mother. The time requirements and schedule of a woman who is exclusively pumping is extremely challenging and will not only affect the mother, but will affect everyone in the family. Help with the new baby, older children, and household work is often necessary in order for the mother to be able to dedicate the necessary time to milk expression. In addition to practical support, it is also very important that family and friends support the efforts of the woman to provide breast milk for her baby. Questioning the importance of breast milk, suggesting the baby be fed formula or asking why she doesn’t “just breastfeed” undermines a mother’s efforts, does not acknowledge her struggles, and gives her yet another obstacle to overcome.
There is no doubt that the option of exclusively pumping can be a difficult path to choose, but the value and benefits of breast milk are undeniable, and, when breastfeeding is not possible, exclusively pumping breast milk, as the World Health Organization recommends, should be seen as the next viable option for feeding a baby. This alternative can be made much more viable for a new mother with support, understanding, knowledge, and acknowledgement from those who surround her.

A week with cloth diapers
The cloth diapers are going sooo well and Im so glad that we switched on over! It really was the best decision we could have made for our little zoey. I do wash every day, though we do have enough to do every other. Im a really stickler when it comes to house work. I like everything neat and clean and in its place at the end of the day or i stay up and it gives me anxiety. like right now, jim did the dishes and the bottles arent put away and i know they are dry....ughhh....
i think i may be done my christmas shopping. i ordered everything from amazon, and if it didnt have prime shipping it didnt get ordered...lol...now to sit and wait for the ups man to deliver it, and maybe i can talk him into wrapping them...lol...
Milk is back down again which im less then excited about. still taking the 12 motilium a day but only getting 3 oz every 4 hours and she eats about 5 oz now. so i have to power pump more now and keep drinking fluids and hopefully get somewhere cause its really getting desperate. i just wished she latched right away, but then again im not sure i was ever going well. like my breasts never changed during my pregnancy which i think its weird. i have a large chest to begin with and everyone said theyd grow, but they didnt at all. sighs....I have stopped leaking but still with the same amount of milk so at least im not wasting any. In my weakest moments i just sit and cry while pumping. or crying trying to get her to latch. while ill never know how much she is really getting, every night she just wants to nurse on her mommy for comfort to sleep which is probably a bad habit but its that closeness i desperately seek. im secretly wishing to give up. im so envious of women who just nurse anytime they want and not have a problem.but i have known women who needed help with the milk supply and nursed other children fine. sighs... but this is the one thing that i can give my daughter that no one else can. and yes i understand formula is not poison, but i have to be totally honest and look down on mothers who use it, myself included. i hate hate hate when i have to. i just really think that formula is a cop out. god blessed you with breasts to feed the infant he gave you, how dare you not even attempt to give your child the best. i guess its why im seeking fulfillment with the cloth diapering. anything i can do in my power to give her a better life is what i will do no matter what the cost. though im sure my husband would think otherwise. he does want me to relax and just give her formula. but im not sure how i could handle the guilt. but if and when i ever give up any breast milk ill certainly know i gave it every ounce of strength that i have. This site has helped some, and i feel grateful that my milk supply is greater then hers started with so there is hope. and there are women who have been in my shoes before.
